What are the differences between keyboard PCB and LED PCB in terms of process?

There are some differences in the manufacturing process between keyboard PCB and LED PCB. The following are their main differences:

1. Manufacturing process

The manufacturing processes for keyboard PCB and LED PCB are slightly different. Keyboard PCB usually includes the following main steps:

  • Preparation of circuit boards: the first need to prepare the circuit board, usually made using materials such as FR4 or CEM1.
  • SMD Processing: Attach electronic components (e.g. resistors, capacitors, IC, etc.) to the circuit board, making sure the position is accurate and fixed.
  • Wave soldering: connect electronic components to the circuit board through wave soldering to ensure reliable electrical connection.
  • Function test: carry out function test on the welded circuit board to ensure that it meets the design requirements.
  • Appearance treatment: Appearance treatment such as edge grinding, drilling, anti-oxidation treatment, etc. is carried out on the circuit boards.
  • Testing and Packaging: Finally, the circuit boards are tested and packaged ready for delivery.

The manufacturing process for LED PCB is similar, but instead of wave soldering, the LED beads are usually connected to the circuit board using, for example, plug-in lamps or SMD LED. The other steps are basically the same.

2. Assembly Method

Keyboard PCBs and LED PCBs are assembled differently. Keyboard PCBs are usually assembled by plug-in assembly, i.e., electronic components are first inserted into the holes of the circuit board, and then the circuit board is put into the oven for baking, so that the electronic components are fixed on the circuit board. The LED PCB is usually assembled in the SMD mode, i.e., the LED beads are attached to the circuit board by the SMD machine, and then reflow soldering is performed to connect the LED beads with the circuit board.

3. Test and Inspection

Keyboard PCB and LED PCB are also different in testing and inspection. Keyboard PCB require more rigorous testing, such as key testing, life testing, high temperature testing, etc., to ensure the function and reliability of the keyboard. LED PCB, on the other hand, need to test the brightness, color, direction and other indicators, as well as the electrical performance of the circuit board and high temperature resistance.

In short, there are some differences between keyboard PCB and LED PCB in terms of manufacturing process and assembly methods, mainly because of the different functions and application scenarios that they need to realize.
